What Is FastTrack Security?
FastTrack Security is a dedicated, pre-bookable security lane available at participating airports worldwide. It allows all passengers — regardless of airline or ticket class — to bypass the standard security queue and pass through a separate, less crowded checkpoint.
By booking FastTrack in advance, you secure a spot in a priority lane that typically has significantly shorter wait times than the regular queue. This means less time standing in line and more time enjoying the terminal, shopping, or simply relaxing before your flight.
FastTrack Security is available to everyone — families, solo travellers, business passengers, and leisure flyers alike. There are no membership requirements or loyalty programme tiers needed to access the service.
What FastTrack Is Not
- Not airport lounge access — FastTrack only covers the security screening process
- Not priority boarding — your boarding process remains as per your airline's policy
- Not immigration fast-track — passport control and border checks are separate from security screening
Airport Overview
About Lanzarote Airport
Serving the eastern coastline of Lanzarote, Lanzarote–Arrecife Airport (ACE) is the primary entry point for international visitors to the island. The airport sits at an elevation of 14 m and is roughly 15 km from Arrecife and its central districts, making it the most convenient option for most resort areas on the island.
ACE operates from a single passenger terminal with dedicated departure and arrival levels and a mix of contact stands and remote aprons. International and domestic flights share the same terminal; passport control for non‑Schengen arrivals is handled in the arrivals hall. Ground transport options include taxis and numerous car hire desks on-site, scheduled intercity buses connecting to Arrecife, Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca, and private hotel shuttles timed to peak tourist flows.
Security Information
Security screening is located on the departures level after check-in. Expect standard EU security rules: liquids in containers of 100 ml or less in a clear resealable bag, electronic devices larger than a phone removed from hand luggage, and footwear/small metal objects subject to inspection. During summer peak months and major holiday periods (February half‑term, Easter and July–September), security queues can increase: morning and late‑evening waves of charter flights are the busiest times. Passport checks are operated for non‑Schengen arrivals in the arrivals hall; Schengen-to-Schengen transfers do not require immigration clearance.

Is FastTrack Worth It at Lanzarote Airport?
Priority lanes at ACE shorten the time spent in the departures security queue, especially during the island’s busiest travel periods. For tight connections or very early/late departures, FastTrack-style access can reduce your time in line by 10–30 minutes compared with the standard queue.
Local tip: If you’re traveling from a resort in the south (Playa Blanca or Puerto del Carmen), plan road time conservatively—traffic and shared hotel shuttle stops can add 20–40 minutes. Combining an early departure with FastTrack access reduces stress and gives extra time for last-minute checks or duty-free shopping.
Average Wait Times
Who benefits from FastTrack at ACE
Families flying to Lanzarote resorts
Skip long security queues when travelling with children and reduce total processing time at the terminal.
Time-sensitive business travellers
Shorten pre-flight checks when you need reliable departure timing for meetings or early check-ins.
Tight connection passengers
Useful for passengers connecting to other flights or fast ferry/boat departures off the island.
Peak-season holidaymakers
Reduce waiting times during summer and school breaks when multiple charter flights operate.
Travel Tips
Arriving from Playa Blanca or Puerto del Carmen
Allow at least 60–90 minutes for road transfers in peak season and add FastTrack to minimise time at departures security.
Collecting hire cars at ACE
Most car hire desks are inside the terminal; collect paperwork before security if you have only hand luggage to speed up the departure process.
Non-Schengen arrivals at Arrecife
If your flight is non‑Schengen, expect passport control in the arrivals hall — priority security does not speed up immigration unless your airline provides a dedicated lane.
Traveling in high summer
Early morning and late evening charter waves are busiest; FastTrack reduces time in security queues during these windows.

FastTrack vs Standard Security
| Feature | FastTrack | Standard |
|---|---|---|
| Departures security priority | Yes | No |
| Passport control priority | No | No |
| One-time use | Yes | No |
| Lounge access | No | No |
Common Mistakes at Lanzarote Airport
- Underestimating transfer time from southern resorts — road transfers can be longer than expected during peak season.
- Arriving without a printed or mobile boarding pass — some airlines and remote stands require a printed pass for muster procedures.
- Expecting FastTrack to cover passport control — at ACE, priority security lanes typically cover departures only; immigration remains standard unless explicitly stated.
- Leaving liquids or large electronics in checked baggage assumptions — standard EU carry-on restrictions apply at the security checkpoint.
- Assuming all flights operate from contact stands — some charter services use remote stands, which add bus transfer time after deplaning.
What If...?
- Late-night arrivals with baggage delays: if your inbound flight arrives after midnight, some car hire desks and public transport links may be limited.
- Inter-island connections: if travelling onward to nearby islands on small regional aircraft, allow extra time for ground transfers between gates and bus marshaling areas.
- Seasonal staff changes: occasional short-term staff shortages can temporarily affect queue speeds during shoulder seasons.
- Airline-priority vs. airport FastTrack: certain airlines operate their own priority lanes; these are separate from any airport-run priority service and may have different access rules.
